history-us-animeThe Wedding Peach anime series was licensed for US sale in late 2003 by ADV Films, before beginning individual volume releases in March of 2004.  This was a relatively unexpected announcement at the time, as magical girl series didn’t (and still don’t) tend to find a large audience in the United States without being broadcast for children, like Sailor Moon (and even then there are no guarantees — see Tokyo Mew Mew). However, this did not seem to impact the official release of Wedding Peach in the US as primarily a title for older fans already familiar with series such as Sailor Moon.

ADV‘s initial release of the series was in individual DVD volumes with two Collector’s Edition volumes that came bundled with boxes to store the full release. In subsequent years, Wedding Peach enjoyed two priced-down reissues before ADV Films eventually went under in 2009 (it was later reborn as Sentai Filmworks, Section23 Films and Maiden Japan).

As of this writing, the English language distribution rights for the Wedding Peach anime have expired and the series is not currently licensed for future North American distribution. As such, the DVD volumes listed here are out-of-print. Second-hand and previously unsold ADV Films official volumes are available to buy via services such as eBay and Amazon Marketplace.

Individual Volume Releases (2004-2005)

The first official release of the Wedding Peach anime series in North America. Important details worth noting include;

  • The individual volumes cover the 51-episode TV series on 9 discs. A 10th volume was released that includes the four DX episodes, for unknown reasons only a very limited number of these 10th volumes were pressed.
  • Each individual disc contains both English and Japanese audio tracks + English subtitles.
