Newtype is a popular monthly anime magazine from Kadokawa Shoten that has been running since 1985. While anime is the primary focus for Newtype there’s also plenty of game, film, novels, and manga coverage as well. Newtype is one of the most recognisable anime magazines to foreigners, in no small part due to international versions being published in both Korea and North America in the past. The original Newtype magazine is still being published and it retains a fairly sizeable format compared to some other anime magazines.

The Wedding Peach anime received some coverage in Newtype during the mid-90s, including vibrant double-page feature articles in 1995. All images here are scanned for sharing by Weddingpeach.net, please link back here if you enjoy using them. Newtype Magazine – June 1995

The cover of this Newtype issue features Belldandy from Aa! Megami-sama and the theme of the opening colour page spreads is bridal. Needless to say, Wedding Peach is one of the titles featured here with a two-page illustration by animator Watanabe Mayumi, which features Momoko, Yuri, and Hinagiku all vying to be Kazuya’s bride. Newtype’s ‘Song Book’ furoku, covering popular anison titles from the latest anime, is also bundled with this issue. One page includes the lyrics to the first Wedding Peach anime opening theme, ‘Yume Miru Ai Tenshi’ by FURIL.
